Travel

“Travel - it leaves you speechless then it turns you into a storyteller” - Ibn Battuta

We believe that a traveler knows that a place is all about the people, which is why we travel to locations that are a little less known for their tourism, and more known for their hospitality. We have found the smaller the city, the larger our impact.

Summer Programs 2022

Our International Internship Programs bring filmmakers and educators to schools and communities around the world to provide children with opportunities to discover their creativity, be exposed to new languages, and get behind the scenes of a real motion-picture.

We recruit curious change-makers to take on the roles of Director, Acting Coach, Cinematographer, and more to help our kids to learn the art of filmmaking in a fun, safe, and inspiring environment.

Throughout our month-long internship programs, interns participate in cross-cultural activities and excursions in which they are exposed to new cultures, witness to world-famous sights and connected to local people. The Lights, Camera, Learn International Internship Programs are designed to connect cultures and inspire people, young and old, through the art of filmmaking.

Abidjan

IVORY COAST

Abidjan is the economic capital of Ivory Coast and one of the most populous French-speaking cities in Africa. According to the 2014 census, Abidjan's population was 4.7 million, which is 20 percent of the overall population of the country, and this also makes it the sixth most populous city proper in Africa. A cultural crossroads of West Africa, Abidjan is characterized by a high level of industrialisation and urbanisation. The city expanded quickly after the construction of a new wharf in 1931, followed by its designation as the capital city of the then-French colony in 1933. Abidjan remained the capital of Côte d'Ivoire after its independence from France in 1960. In 1983, the city of Yamoussoukro was designated as the official political capital of Cote d'Ivoire. However, almost all political institutions and foreign embassies continue to be located in Abidjan.Because Abidjan is also the largest city in the country and the centre of its economic activity, it has officially been designated as the "economic capital" of the country.

The land of Abrahamic religions. Bethlehem is famous for being the place where Jesus was born. However, we will be splitting our time between Bethlehem and Baqa-al-Gharbiya, a smaller town 40 minutes away. This land has always been a place of interest, from the Roman Empire to the Byzantine era and the Ottomans, great civilizations have wanted to settle in this prosperous town. During our history intensive program, we will be making movies with the stars in the afternoon, and we will spend mornings in culture workshops that explore the language, faiths, and traditions surrounding this land.

ISTANBUL

TURKEY

You have not lived unless you have visited Istanbul.  The city of two empires, an eye witness of every major historical event. If you want to see history, and we mean to really see it before your eyes, you need to be in Istanbul.

Ahmed Tanpinar, a famous Turkish writer says of this enchanting city: "The truth about Istanbul is that she is like a woman you don't love at all or like a much-loved woman whose every mood and detail you dwell on with passion."

From its breathtaking natural landscape to its masterful architecture, to its mouthwatering food, you witness the history of all the civilizations of the east and the west, come together in beautiful harmony, making Istanbul is a city of all yet a city of none.

seville.jpg

The land of mosqcathedrals. In Seville, the culture is literally bouncing off of every stone that was used to build it. Once taken over by the Ottoman empire, they used this land to build majestic mosques that were later transformed into cathedrals while preserving their original beauty. The people are as vibrant as their music. Even if you don’t love food, the tapas here will turn you into a foodie. Game of thrones and Star Wars both used Seville’s Alcazar Palace as a part of their set, so we thought you should too.

This summer we will not be hosting our Sevilla program.

paris.jpg

The city of light  - and bread, and cheese, and chocolate, and let's not forget French is probably dubbed the language of love because no one can help falling in love with this unique city. From fashion, to art, to cafés, to french cinema - each aspect of this culture is worth the hype. We worked in Troissy this summer, a castle an hour away from Paris - and we got to experience the natural beauty this country has to offer as well as the craziness this city can bring.

We will not hosting our Paris program this summer.
